โš ๏ธ Disclaimer: The 8th Pay Commission fitment factor is not yet officially finalized. These figures are projections based on expert estimates (1.92xโ€“2.86x) and are for planning purposes only. Final values will be confirmed after the Government approves the Commission's report.

How this works

The 8th Pay Commission is expected to revise the salary structure for central government employees, similar to how the 7th Pay Commission applied a 2.57x fitment factor to basic pay in 2016. Since the Commission's report is not yet finalized, this calculator uses an estimated fitment factor range of 1.92x to 2.86x based on expert projections, letting you see a plausible range of outcomes for your own basic pay.

New Basic Pay = Current Basic ร— Fitment Factor. Dearness Allowance (DA) and House Rent Allowance (HRA) are then calculated as a percentage of the new basic pay, and added along with Transport Allowance (TA) to arrive at the estimated gross monthly salary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Has the 8th Pay Commission been officially approved?

As of now, the fitment factor and full terms of reference have not been officially finalized by the Government. This calculator is based on expert projections and should be treated as an estimate, not an official figure.

What is a fitment factor?

A fitment factor is a multiplier applied to your existing basic pay to arrive at the new basic pay under a Pay Commission. The 7th Pay Commission used 2.57x โ€” the 8th is widely estimated to fall between 1.92x and 2.86x depending on the final recommendation.

Why does DA reset to 0% at implementation?

When a new Pay Commission is implemented, the accumulated Dearness Allowance is typically merged into the new basic pay, and DA restarts from 0% before rising again with subsequent inflation-linked revisions. You can adjust this field to model different scenarios.

Does this include deductions like NPS or income tax?

No โ€” this shows the estimated gross monthly salary before deductions such as NPS/PF contributions, professional tax and income tax. Your actual in-hand salary will be lower after these deductions.
